Peter Howell was born and bred in Kyabram. He was passionate about art and design at school and so it came as no surprise to his family and friends when he was accepted by Ballarat University to study a Graphic Design Degree in 1986. Peter paid his own way through University, by fruit picking apricots, apples and pears in the Goulbourn Valley. It was while he was at Uni that he met his wife to be, Libby.
Three years later with a degree under his belt he started work in a Graphic Design company in South Melbourne. Interestingly four couples form his ‘Uni group’ who married around the same time have still remained close friends.
A year or so later he returned to the bush to work from home. A short while later he decided to take a working holiday and travel to Perth while Libby set off on a trip around the world. Soon after arriving in Perth he was offered a job as a signwriter by Best Signs, in Osbourne Park.
After a while Libby started to get homesick, so he and Libby went back to Melbourne, where Libby, a teacher, was able to find work quickly. Peter successfully applied for a job at AAAA Signs in Eltham. He worked for his boss Garry Griffiths for about 7 years until Garry gave him the opportunity to buy the business.
10 years on AAAA Signs has grown to be a popular and well established business, providing quality signs, displays and screen printing for both Victorian and interstate businesses. Peter and his team have been recently specialising in vehicle and boat wraps, shop fronts, garment printing and ‘A frame’ banners.
