Buffalo SportsBuffalo SportsContact: Eane Whitton
Eane Whitton started business in 1972 as the sole proprietor of Buffalo Sports after having spent the early part of his life as a Physical Education Teacher in Tech Schools across Melbourne’s northern suburbs. His first storage facility was the back of his dad’s shed in Preston.
Eane moved and expanded quickly to 3000 square feet in Preston, 15,000 square feet in Union Street, Brunswick and then 100,000 square feet in Albert Street in 2010, which is nearly full now in 2015 with over 5000 different products!
Now well and truly into his seventies, Eane has exclusive distributor agreements with numerous multi national sporting goods manufacturers and exports to over 50 countries worldwide. With the Buffalo brand now grown to be recognised and trusted world wide the business continues to attract and encourage entrepreneurial businesses looking to become distributors of the Buffalo Sports range.
In March 2015 Eane padded up for his 1000th club cricket match. The local sports legend was playing for Sunbury Over 60s team when they took on a Victoria Country 11. Hot weather the previous weekend had delayed his milestone match in his 60th season.
Eane has played with a number of cricket clubs over the journey, including West Footscray, Footscray, North Melbourne and Ivanhoe. The right-arm spinner has taken best bowling figures of 10/46 and in typical Whitton style, he joked that the batsmen got on top of him and that he was hoping to get 10/0.
On top of his extensive work, cricket and other sporting commitments Eane still finds time to participate in the annual Victorian Variety Bash charity road trip with Lachie Pitman and David Cloke’s Sheep Assist Team raising over $20,000 for the children’s charity in 2014.
